Comparison of Shallow Water Models for Use in Supporting Chesapeake Bay Management Decision-Making

April 20, 2016 - April 21, 2016
Gloucester Point, VA

This workshop will seek to convene several team PIs and experts in the field of shallow water modeling to discuss results of the shallow water model comparison effort. Discussion will address three key questions:

1) How well are the pre-existing and newly developed models able to reproduce observations of water quality (e.g. chlorophyll, oxygen, light) in the Chester River, and why are certain models better able to reproduce observations than others?

2) What methodologies are available for scaling up this shallow water multiple modeling effort for implementation at the full Chesapeake Bay scale?

3) What specific nutrient reduction scenarios will be implemented by each modeling team, and how should these scenario results be compared?
