Factors Influencing Fish Habitat Function in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed: Application to Restoration and Management Decisions

April 25, 2018 - April 26, 2018
Richmond, VA

This two-day workshop will inform the development of a Regional (Chesapeake Bay) Fish Habitat Assessment, and identify information needs on the quality and quantity of fish habitat and its sensitivity to stressors. As a starting point, this workshop will work to refine the National Fish Assessment with more local data sets and improve its utility for local decisions.

This workshop will aim to meet the following goals:

  • Identify a list of criteria and factors to be included in an assessment
    • Develop a comprehensive list of factors influencing the identified habitats by using a refined list of representative species
    • Create criteria for analyzing the impact of factors influencing the identified habitats
    • Evaluate the significance of the identified factors/criteria on habitat function
  • Identify the existence of information gaps
  • Discuss available decision supporting tools and their feasibility for the Chesapeake Watershed Regional Fish Habitat Assessment
