September 2022 STAC Quarterly Meeting
September 13, 2022 - September 14, 2022Havre de Grace, Maryland
The September 2022 STAC meeting was held on Tuesday, September 13th and Wednesday, September 14th at the Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace, MD (301 South Union Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD 21078).
The meeting theme was wetland restoration, with presentations highlighting the topic. The CBP community, led by the Habitat and Water Quality GITs, focused on the lack of collective progress toward our wetland restoration targets to ameliorate water quality concerns. On August 2nd-3rd, GIT leads convened a community workshop to initiate the development of an Action Plan to address the shortfall. The Action Plan was presented with a request for support from the CBP Management Board at their November meeting. To support this effort, the September STAC meeting focused on bringing the best available science forward to maximize the likelihood of the Action Plan’s success. We aim to develop a unified statement of support regarding this critical initiative which could provide multiple benefits (ecosystem services) central to the CBP’s restoration goals and objectives and also to highlight opportunities for beyond 2025.
- An optional field trip had been scheduled on Day 2 for STAC members for a kayaking tour in a non-credit course through Harford Community College. This trip did not happen due to COVID-related cancelations.
