John Bovay is an assistant professor and Kohl Junior Faculty Fellow in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at Virginia Tech. He also serves as his department’s leader for Virginia Cooperative Extension programs. His research focuses on regulations that affect farms, food producers, and consumers, with several ongoing projects about the economics of climate-smart agricultural practices and the agriculture-environment interface. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Davis, and with a B.A. in Mathematics and Politics and a minor in Environmental Studies from Washington and Lee University.
