Chesapeake Student Recruitment, Early Advisement, and Mentoring Program (C-StREAM)
From 2018 to 2025, CRC’s Chesapeake Student Recruitment, Early Advisement, and Mentoring (C-StREAM) program focused on recruiting, advising, and mentoring diverse college students pursuing undergraduate degrees in environmental science, policy, management, or other related fields.
C-StREAM was designed to advance the participation of students from underrepresented communities in environmental science, protection, restoration, education, management and policy careers by developing career pathways. C-StREAM Fellows were matched with a host academic institution, non profit, or government agency within the Chesapeake Bay restoration effort to complete meaningful summer internships. Coupled with the experience gained from their summer work, C-StREAM Fellows were provided with professional development opportunities and training on subjects such as time management, effective communication and presentation skills, and developing compelling resumes and cover letters.
Summer Symposia
At the end of each summer, C-StREAM fellows gave presentations on their research and work at the annual Summer Symposium in front of an invited audience of family, mentors, and guests from across the Chesapeake Bay restoration effort. See the meaningful projects that C-StREAM fellows contributed to during their time with the program below.
