STAC was excited to welcome 3 new at-large members in September.

blaneyLee Blaney is an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and has research interests in fate and transport of emerging contaminants in natural and engineered systems. Much of his current research deals with the detection and removal of pharmaceuticals from drinking water, surface water and ground water.

 

 

web_krKenny Rose, a France-Merrick Professor in Sustainable Ecosystem Restoration at Horn Point Laboratory of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES), uses mathematical and computer simulation modeling to predict and better understand fish population and food web dynamics in estuaries. Dr. Rose was recently awarded the Award of Excellence for life achievement from the American Fisheries Society.

 

lsanfordLarry Sanford serves as both a Professor at UMCES Horn Point Lab and as Interim Vice President for Education. His research focuses on fine sediment transport processes and coastal and estuarine physical oceanography. He has received the UMCES President’s Award for Excellence in Application of Science, the Kirby Laing Fellowship of the School of Ocean Sciences, University of Wales, Bangor, and the USM MEES Program Teaching Award. A previous member of STAC, we are excited to welcome him back to the committee.
