Justin Shapiro
Location : Chesapeake Bay Program Offices Position : Environmental Management Staffer - Sustainable Fisheries Goal Implementation Team Email : justin.shapiro@noaa.gov Bio : Justin joined the Chesapeake Research Consortium in 2020, as staff to the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Sustainable Fisheries Goal Implementation Team. As a staffer, Justin works to support the Fish Habitat Action Team and Oyster Interagency Team, as well as coordinating Executive Committee meetings.
Justin graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2018, obtaining a B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy with a concentration in wildlife ecology and management. After graduating, Justin joined the Chesapeake Conservation Corps, working for the National Wildlife Federation’s Mid-Atlantic office. As a member of the conservation programming team, he supported community engagement, climate resiliency, and habitat creation efforts across the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
As a native of Ellicott City, Justin has always called the Chesapeake Bay home and looks forward to connecting with stakeholders across the entire watershed. His favorite place in the watershed is Susquehanna State Park, where he hikes along the river with his dog, Chessie. Outside of work, Justin is passionate about cooking, reading, and traveling, and is always looking for ways to combine these hobbies.
