Randy Rowel
Location : Chesapeake Research Consortium Office Position : C-StREAM Program Coordinator Email : rowelr@chesapeake.org Bio : Randy Kenyatta Rowel, XMNR, is a native Annapolitan, and his family has been there for around 175 years. He is an ex-athlete having played Division 1 college Basketball, and after played semi pro in the D-League for the NBA and tried out for the Philadelphia 76ers. He is Vice President of RR & Associates, a family run business, and is also the Visionary Founder of Replant Annapolis, and a member of the City of Annapolis Environmental Commission, and a Board Member at Wild Kid Acres in Edgewater Maryland.
His passion and career aspirations are to increase exposure, awareness, and appreciation for the environment in which they live and to increase career opportunities for young interns from communities of color that can be inspired by my leadership.
He earned his master’s degree at Virginia Tech in Executive Master of Natural Resources in Global Sustainability (XMNR), an accelerated graduate degree program for professionals that takes place over three semesters within one year and a half. The international study and residency portion of this graduate degree took place in rural and urban India.
Randy is the new Program Coordinator for Chesapeake Research Consortium’s Chesapeake Student Recruitment, Early Advisement, and Mentoring (C-StREAM) program. The C-StREAM program is focused on recruiting, advising, and mentoring college students from populations who have been historically excluded from the environmental field and are underrepresented in environmental research and management professions.
