CRC aims to evolve and strengthen a leadership pathway so that the necessary diversity of perspectives is applied to the protection and restoration of complex human-impacted ecosystems. CRC works towards this goal by providing entry-level, science-based environmental management positions and a variety of environmental science and management summer internships to students and early career professionals. Through these opportunities developing leaders can gain applied experience, build their professional networks, and begin their careers studying, protecting, and restoring the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed for all people who live and work within its bounty. Creating pathways and engaging with students and early-career professionals as they travel on these paths, ensures that the resources provided by the Bay and its watershed as well as the Bay’s vast history and unique culture are preserved so they may be experienced and enjoyed for generations to come.

Environmental Management Career Development Program

CRC’s Environmental Management Career Development Program (EMCDP) gives early career environmental managers and scientists an entry point into the Chesapeake Bay’s restoration community in a way that not only provides critical professional experience but that also advances individual growth so that future leaders are prepared to continue the restoration and management of the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed.

C-StREAM Internships

CRC’s Chesapeake Student Recruitment, Early Advisement, and Mentoring (C-StREAM) internship program recruits, advises, and mentors college students who are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in environmental science, policy, management, or other related fields. C-StREAM creates a community of both undergraduate mentees and mentors so that the necessary diversity of perspectives is applied to the protection and restoration of complex human-impacted ecosystems such as the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed.

Chesapeake Bay Internships

Each summer CRC, in cooperation with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Chesapeake Bay Office, offers multiple paid internships designed to explore Chesapeake Bay focused topics such as fisheries management; habitat restoration; monitoring and assessment; and environmental education and literacy. These positions are generally offered to current undergraduate students and are intended to provide these individuals with real-world, hands-on experience in coastal ecology and resource management.
