The “Recent CRC Community Publications” (RCCP) collection is a new feature of the CRC web page to increase community access to peer-reviewed publications authored or co-authored by individuals employed at CRC member institutions of other  Chesapeake Bay Program partners and who are registered with CBED.  It is populated by submissions (nominations) from the authors themselves or by  colleagues. Nominations for inclusion can be either single submissions or much longer collections of citations (e.g. assembled by staff or colleagues at member institutions).
All submissions should include a DOI number if possible and should be provided by email communication to this address:  Citation-collection@chesapeake.org

Criteria for inclusion in the collection.
Listed works must:

  • Include a CRC-affiliated author — i.e., someone registered in CRC’s CBED database and who is employed either at a CRC member institution or with another Chesapeake Bay Program partnering academic institution, state agency, federal agency, or NGO;
  • Have been subjected to a formal peer-review process prior to publication;
  • Be accessible through one or more institutional libraries; and
  • Have direct relevance to science and/or management of the complex Chesapeake ecosystemi.e., to the development and application of better scientific understanding to improved management of the Chesapeake Bay, its watershed, or its living resources. (In this regard, definitions of “relevance” can be broad and are at the discretion of the nominator;  submissions will be gently vetted by the CRC.)

To make a submission, nominators should send an email to Citation-collection@chesapeake.org with as much of the following information as possible:

  1.  an electronic bibliographic data file with the citation or citations (e.g. *.enl or *.bib files, in RIS BiblX format, or other standard format generated from bibliographic software or on-line databases); AND/OR
  2. the paper’s (or papers’) citation (with DOI if possible); AND/OR
  3.  a URL link to a location where the file can be downloaded; AND/OR
  4.  a PDF of the paper(s).

These items are listed in order of CRC’s preference.  Submission of any one item is acceptable, but submission of all 4 items is preferred.  Submission of multiple publications by institutional staff is encouraged — we are especially hoping to find institutional representatives or  partnering scientists willing to share relevant *.bib or *.enl files from their own electronic databases.  (If you have questions or concerns, please contact the CRC Director at <ballw@chespeake.org> or 410-798-1283 to discuss details.)

In addition, nominators would assist the CRC by pre-identifying which (one or more) of the following management issues is informed by each publication that is submitted:

  • Sustainable Fisheries (SF)
  • Vital Habitats (VH)
  • Water Quality (WQ)
  • Toxic Contaminants (TC)
  • Healthy Watersheds (HW)
  • Land Conservation (LC)
  • Public Access (PA)
  • Environmental Literacy (EL)
  • Stewardship / Community Inclusion (SC)
  • Climate Resiliency (CR)
  • Fostering Diversity (FD)

The two-letter identifiers noted above will be placed into keywords, thus making the database especially useful to managers and others involved with working groups and goal teams within the Chesapeake Bay Program Partnership.
