Restoring Positivity: Chesapeake Bay Watershed Success Stories

The restoration of the Chesapeake Bay has been and will continue to be a herculean effort by many, and the work ahead of us often overshadows the successes to date. Pausing to celebrate our successes reminds us all how far we have come and is a learning opportunity for all. Our two speakers will discuss how a stream restoration project transformed a local waterway into a thriving connection point and the collaborative, large-scale oyster restoration effort across Maryland and Virginia that is rebuilding critical habitats. Together, these stories demonstrate the power of targeted local action and coordinated regional initiatives in restoring the largest estuary in the country.

Speakers:

  • Emily Landis, Director of Education & Environmental Strategy, Little Conestoga Creek Foundation/The Steinman Foundation
  • Stephanie Westby, Oyster Restoration Program Director, NOAA
