CRC Member Take-Over Series: University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES)
Building A Diverse Environmental Workforce and Packaging the State of the Science
There is a need to bring science to more people as well as bringing more people (and diversity) to science. Our speakers will demonstrate how UMCES works to fill both needs. On one hand, they have two programs for training for students from underrepresented groups. On the other side, they package the state of the science and policy on coastal adaptation in a digestible way to help measure progress and increase accountability.
During a member “take over” of the CRC Roundtable by UMCES, we heard about the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET) intern program, the Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center, and the coastal adaptation report card.
Moderator:
- Peter Goodwin, CRC Board Member & President of UMCES
Speakers:
- Eric Schott, Associate Research Professor at IMET, UMCES
- Katie May Laumann, Science Integrator, UMCES
