As part of a new program described elsewhere in this newsletter and short-handed as C StREAM (for “Chesapeake Student Recruitment, Early Advisement, and Mentoring”), the Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) partnership and Chesapeake Research Consortium (CRC) are seeking applicants for three summer intern positions in Summer 2018 (June – August) to provide support to the Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) partnership goal implementation teams and workgroups at the Chesapeake Bay Program Office in Annapolis, MD. Three positions are currently open, with an application closing date of May 14, 2018. Ideal applicants will be undergraduate or MS level students with at least one “home-institution” mentor/advisor who is willing to work with the CRC and other C StREAM partners to provide post-internship continuity of mentoring. The program — which is designed primarily to support the training and development of typically under-represented populations in fields related to environmental science, health, engineering and management — is more fully described here. The available positions are in the area of Natural Resource Management and Environmental Policy, to work with workgroups and other teams to advance existing projects and establish new projects and priorities. An intern position is available to support activities of each of the following groups:
- the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Diversity Workgroup;
- the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Science, Analysis & Implementation Team; and
- Chesapeake Bay Program’s Graphic Information Systems (GIS) Team.
More complete descriptions of each position can be found here.
Please help us spread the word about these positions and, if you are faculty at a local academic institution, please consider offering mentorship to a promising student at your own school!
