Research interests : Water Resources and Water Infrastructure Tools. My experience on both the vendor and user of software products for the analysis and design of water infrastructure gives me a unique perspective on the use of these tools for stormwater management and flood control. I am interested in advancing the state of the art the use of numerical models for stormwater management in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
For example, However, the effectiveness and long-term viability of such best water management practices (BMPs) is poorly understood. Long-term monitoring of demonstration projects is required to address these questions. With this information numerical models can then be used to evaluate the effectiveness management practices on a basin wide scale and develop cost effective strategies.
I would like to continue my work on monitoring water quality in surface waters to investigate the movement of constituents through watersheds and their fate in lakes. The work will focus on the use of sensors to measure various parameters on a continuous basis. Data analysis requires integration of historical an ongoing data collected by various parties in the watersheds of interest. The use of large data networks such as the Hydrologic Information System to store and publish time series data is essential.
