Kacey Wetzel is the Director of Outreach and Education for The Chesapeake Bay Trust, and was recently named one of 100 Leading Women by The Daily Record, an award that highlights successful women under 40 in Maryland “judged on professional experience, community involvement and their commitment to inspiring change.” Business and legal professionals at The Daily Record pick the winners every year.
Wetzel completed her master’s degree in environmental science and policy at Johns Hopkins while working for the Trust. During that time she was promoted from junior grants administrator to a program officer position because of her attention to detail and passion for the job. She then went on to get her certificate in social marketing and public health from the University of South Florida and applied her new skills to watershed grant funding. Executive Director Jana Davis says “she has since become recognized as a regional, if not national, expert on this topic of connection of social marketing to watershed issues.”
