Welcome to NCBO Internships!

In partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Chesapeake Bay Office, CRC offers paid, twelve-week summer internships in a range of fields including fisheries management, habitat assessment, ecology, scientific field support, data analysis, education, community engagement, partnership development, modeling, and environmental policy development.  The internships combine field-based experiences with administrative and technical support duties and offer a unique opportunity to contribute to large-scale, long-term ecological research and learning critical to understanding Bay habitats and living resources and supportive of informed decision making.

Eligibility: Internships are open to undergraduate students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior years of study. Applicants must be a resident and/or attend a college/university within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed (NY, PA, MD, DE, DC, VA or WV)

Direct Hire Authority: NOAA and the NCBO/CRC Internship Program received direct hire authority through the Conservation Service Corps Act of 2019. This authority allows NOAA to hire qualified recent graduates who participated in an eligible NOAA summer internship or fellowship into entry-level federal positions through a more direct process. Positions filled using this authority support the National Marine Sanctuary System, coral reefs, and other coastal, estuarine, and marine habitats, and other land and facilities managed by NOAA.
