Bio : Nick Staten joined the Chesapeake Research Consortium in August 2024 as staff to the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Protect and Restore Vital Habitats Goal Implementation Team. As a Habitat GIT staffer, Nick will coordinate important conversations with partners involved in the Stream Health, Brook Trout, and Fish Passage workgroups. Nick is a 2022 BS Bioengineering graduate from the University of Maryland, with a lot of experience in multidisciplinary teamwork from his experiences in undergraduate research and consulting. While his academic background provided him with a solid foundation in scientific principles and analytical thinking, his time spent SCUBA diving reinforced his appreciation for the natural world and his desire to protect it. Nick grew up on the Chesapeake Bay and can’t wait to work toward its restoration. In his free time, he enjoys gardening (indoor and outdoor), reading, hiking, fossil hunting, cooking, and underwater photography/videography.
