VIMS is offering a new graduate opportunity (an M.A. program) for students who want to study marine science, but intend on pursuing careers in policy, advocacy, education, business, non-profits, and other professional areas. This new program is open to all students who have an interest in marine science, including those from non-traditional academic backgrounds, such as majoring in policy, journalism, education, etc.

This program is a very different because it is significantly more focused on providing students with real-world experiences and applicable skills for careers outside of academia and there is less of an emphasis on the demanding research, field, and lab components of our other graduate programs. They are working to grow out programs and develop their students in ways that better meet their career aspirations and trajectories. Applications are open now.
