Breck Sullivan joined the Chesapeake Research Consortium as a staffer for the Chesapeake Bay Program’s (CBP) Scientific, Technical Assessment, and Reporting (STAR) team in January 2019. As a CBP intern in 2014, she is thrilled to be back working for the partnership. She currently staffs five of the STAR’s workgroups which includes the Integrated Monitoring Networks workgroup, which manages the CBP monitoring networks; the Status and Trends workgroup, which helps identify and update indicators for CBP's progress; the Data Integrity workgroup, which advises the CBP on field and analytical methodology as well as quality assurance issues relating to water quality data; the Criteria Assessment Protocol workgroup, which works to advise and resolve water quality criteria assessment protocol questions from the CBP and its partnership; and co-staffs the Climate Resiliency workgroup, which focuses on identifying and integrating climate-related considerations into the CBP goals. Breck’s tasks focus on monitoring needs, climate resilient education, and assists the CBP modeling team.

Breck graduated from Salisbury University where she majored in Environmental Studies, minored in Math, and played varsity field hockey. She continued in higher education by getting her Master of Science from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) in Environmental Monitoring and Modeling. For her thesis, she developed a mathematical model to compare the life cycle GHG emissions of electricity from tidal turbines modeled in 10 coastal U.S. states. She began her career as an Adjunct Professor for Salisbury University in the Environmental Studies Department. Breck also assisted the President and Chief of Staff at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science as a Faculty Research Assistant.

Outside of the office, Breck enjoys spending her time near the water whether it is paddle boarding around Annapolis or sitting on the be beach in Ocean City with a good book. She also likes to coach field hockey and spread the love for the game.
